Using Operators in Cells

The most commonly used operators are plus, minus, multiply and divide.

Let's assume that you want to add A1 with A2.

1. To do this highlight the cell you wish to display the result of adding A1 with A2.
2. Type in the cell =A1+A2

3. Press enter

If you wish to either subtract, multiply or divide then replace + with - * / respectively.

Alternatively:

1. Highlight the cell you wish to display the result of adding A1 with A2.

2. In the cell type =

3. Then move to the first cell in which you wish to add. See the diagram below:

4. Enter +
5. Then highlight the next cell to add.
6. Press Enter

With this method you do not need to constantly type in the cell numbers to enter the formula.
